These difficulties encompass areas such as:

  • Personal care
  • Routine
  • Cognition
  • Falls Prevention
  • Mental wellbeing
  • Return to employment
  • Housing adaptation
  • Equipment assessment

We focus on goals tailored to your needs to ensure that you receive the most appropriate intervention.

Original Therapies will provide services to you if you live in Laois, Offaly, Kildare, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Carlow.

If you do not live in one of these counties, then contact us and we can work out a solution for you.

The Occupational Therapist (OT) will organise a time that suits you to meet in your own home environment. The OT will then discuss your past medical history, social supports, previous therapy input, and also address any areas of concern you have. The assessment may involve you moving around and interacting with various aspects of your home. The assessment process will generally last for 1 hour.

Depending on the results of your assessment it may be necessary to complete a follow-up assessment to look into areas of your cognitive function or specific tasks identified in the initial assessment.

Please contact us for further information relating to pricing.

All prices are exclusive of travel costs incurred travelling from Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

Occupational Therapy is a healthcare profession offering support to people with physical, psychological, and social problems to enable them to live life to the fullest. Occupational therapists help people to do the everyday activities that they want to do and need to do when faced with illness, injury, and disability or challenging life events (AOTI, 2020)

Occupational therapists focus on assessing a person’s ability to complete daily tasks that are meaningful to them. Goals are formulated in conjunction with the client. The occupational therapist and client work together, focusing on a client’s strengths to achieve set goals.

Yes we provide a range of services for residents in nursing homes. These include but aren’t limited to:

  • Seating
  • Cognitive Assessments
  • Activity of daily living assessments.
  • Falls Prevention

Wherever someone is living we can assess and provide advice to improve their quality of life and independence. Contact us to book an appointment.

Currently we do not provide any assessment or intervention for children.

If you require an assessment for a child then contact us and we can assist you in finding a suitable service for your child.

As Occupational Therapy services are deemed and essential service, we can still visit you for your assessment. This will not delay your appointment.

All clients will be contacted via phone prior to assessment to complete a health questionnaire. Our occupational therapist will complete hand hygiene before, during and after assessment whilst wearing appropriate PPE for the task required.

We will endeavour to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19 as much as possible, however we cannot guarantee this with 100% certainty.
